2010 SGI Conference Workshop Speakers

Ben Edwards serves as the Director of Urban Ministry at Inter-City Baptist Church. He leads the evangelistic and discipleship efforts of the campus ministry team at Wayne State University and coordinates outreach into the Midtown area. Ben married Jo Archibald less than two weeks after SGI!

Tim Heijermans was born in the Netherlands, has lived in Europe two-thirds of his life. He has been church planting in Luxembourg since 1977, for nine years in a French speaking ministry and the rest of the time at Christian Community Church, a fundamental, Bible-teaching church in the capital city.  CCC is multi-ethnic and multi-lingual, composed of 25-30 nationalities from all the continents.  He and his wife, Kathy, have three married children and five grandchildren.

Amy Johnson is the wife of Pearson and serves as a homemaker and mother of their two children. Amy is currently involved with coordinating the Women of the Word Bible study for the ladies of Inter-City. She coordinated the Seminary Wives Institute for wives of students attending Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary for several years. She enjoys teaching God’s Word to women.

Pearson Johnson serves as Pastor of Missions and Evangelism at Inter-City Baptist Church. He is responsible for leading ICBC’s efforts to reach out into the metropolitan Detroit area with the gospel and to help further church-planting missions around the world. Pearson co-authored the missions book For the Sake of His Name. He and his wife, Amy, have two children.

Lance “Bud” Rader is a genuine Yooper, born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. His family has been involved in “back country” church planting in Bolivia since 1982. In addition to church planting, they are involved in a Bible institute, aviation ministry, orphanage, Bible camp and a hands-on missionary training program. He and his wife, Karen, have six children, several of whom are serving the Lord as missionaries.

Mark Snoeberger is the Director of Library Services and Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to coming on staff at DBTS, he served for three years as an assistant pastor. He provides pulpit supply for area churches on an active basis and teaches in the Inter-City Bible Institute. He and his wife, Heather, have two sons.

Marian Townes served for seventeen years with her husband, Dr. William E. Townes, in the former Belgian Congo and Central African Republic. When they returned from Africa in 1972, she taught at Inter-City Baptist Elementary School and was the principal there for twelve years before her retirement. She is currently actively involved in teaching women at Inter-City Baptist Church. Marian and her husband, Dr. Townes, have four children.
