Indian Evangelist Killed

May 7, 2010 – 4:45 pm

The following incident was relayed to MM by a national pastor in India that our church supports:

Ravi Murmu (Evangelist, Jamalpur, Bihar) was brutally killed yesterday night (2 May) while coming back after showing a film show in  Laxmanpur (Bihar). He went along with a team for showing the film and on return he was alone as others had left little early.

When he didn’t reach home late night, a search ensued whereby they found his severally lacerated dead body. His one hand was severally cut, and there were deep cut wounds on his neck and other parts of the body. The reasons for the attack is still unknown. His belongings at the time of attack were found intact including his moterbike, cell phone, watch & Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Rinku, 8 year old daughter, Celesty, and widowed mother. He is young & aged around 28 years. He is a commended worker of Bethel Assembly (Jamalpur).

Let us remember the grieving family members in prayers. May the Lord bestow upon them Heavenly Grace, Peace and Strength and console them with the Word of God. May the Peace that passeth understanding rule over their hearts.

Ravi, Rinku, and daughter Celesty

Please pray for Ravi’s family and be reminded of the price that thousands of Christians pay for the sake of the gospel of Jesus. Ravi represents the scores of husbands, fathers, pastors and church leaders around the world that take a stand for the gospel.

May this serve as an encouragement and an exhortation to stand firm in the workplace, neighborhood, and community for the sake of Jesus’ Name.
