SGI Travels
October 8, 2009 – 4:08 pmMichigan, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Indiana, Massachusetts, Ontario, New York, Tennessee. Colleges, conferences, churches, airports, restaurants, homes. Planes, rentals, automobiles. Networking, mobilizing, coffee-sipping, encouraging, speaking, ping-ponging. Students, pastors, missionaries, teachers, church members.
These locations, venues, and activities sum up my SGI travels from the past 2.5 weeks. It has been an edifying experience, witnessing God’s grace in the lives of His children. I was encouraged by what I saw and heard from students and professors on college campuses regarding missions and the spread of the gospel. As well, it was a blessing to point people to the resources that SGI and MM provide.
While my primary task on these trips was to promote the SGI conference, the Lord gave me opportunities to encourage students in their love for God and His Word, as well as be encouraged by students and faculty/staff of these institutions. As I met with pastors, I heard encouraging ideas being communicated regarding missions; phrases like “indigenous churches,” “biblical philosophy,” “gospel partnerships,” and “sacrificial support,” to name a few.
While the contemporary ministry landscape can, at times, be discouraging, I would like to testify of God’s gracious preservation of dozens (even hundreds) of churches, ministries, pastors, students, and parents who are committed to a biblical philosophy of ministry and a zealous love for His Word. For this we can praise God, and humbly ask that He continue to preserve these people and their ministries for the sake of His name.
I will be home for the next few days and plan to post regularly on the MM blog. Thank you for your patience during these weeks of travels and transition.
