M Trivia 1.4: Answer

September 8, 2009 – 9:32 am

One feature that will frequently be included in the new MM Express email update is M Trivia, a missions-related trivia question that will sharpen missions knowledge and give the opportunity to win free books.

From the correct answers that are emailed to tim@missionsmandate.org by Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., winners will be chosen at random. The winners will receive a free book. The correct answer to the M Trivia challenge will be posted the same Tuesday morning.

The M Trivia challenge for MM Express 1.4: “What was David Brainerd doing when he was miraculously spared from a rattlesnake bite in the sight of the natives to which he was ministering?”

The correct answer: he was praying. According to F. W. Boreham, in his book Prophet of God, Brainerd sought to share the gospel with a vicious Indian tribe near the forks of the Delaware river. Unbeknownst to him, the Indians set out to kill this approaching white man. But

when the braves drew closer to Brainerd’s tent, they saw the paleface on his knees. And as he prayed, suddenly a rattlesnake slipped to his side, lifted up its ugly head to strike, flicked its forked tongue almost in his face, and then without any apparent reason, glided swiftly away into the brushwood. “The Great Spirit is with the paleface!” the Indians said; and thus they accorded him a prophet’s welcome.

Out of the correct answers submitted, two winners were selected. They have been notified via email and will receive a free copy of Melvin Hodges’ The Indigneous Church.
