God’s Saving Grace for Muslim Militiaman

April 3, 2009 – 11:07 am

The Christian Post ran this article recently about Hicham Chehab, a Lebanese-Muslim militiaman whom God sovereingly transformed and who is now a messenger of the gospel of peace. My thoughts are drawn to Matthew 19:23-26:

And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. “Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?” And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (NASB)

The obstacle for the man in front of Jesus was his wealth, for Hicham it was his self-righteous religious fervor. For the billions around the world who are trusting something other than the sovereign grace of God through Jesus for entrance into the kingdom of heaven, this obstacle blocks their path. Praise God for his work of removing the veil and giving sight to the blind!
