Macroeconomics and Missions
October 23, 2008 – 10:13 amMissions and Macroeconomics: deputation and IRAs; the Wall Street Journal and Mission Network News; passports and stocks/bonds.
What do they all have in common? Well, on the surface not a whole lot. But this morningĀ a couple of guys from MM spoke in a college-level macroeconomics class about the history of the Student Volunteer Movement, the definition and importance of missions mobilization in their student body, and the responsibility we all have to aid gospel ministry abroad.
We are currently in Greenville, SC for a missions emphasis week at Bob Jones University. We have been down here since Monday, sharing with students our burden to equip them to be missions mobilizers on their campus, through the ministries of Student Global Impact and Missions Mandate. Besides interacting with students at our display table, we have had the opportunity to speak to students in classes and chat with them at various places around campus. It is exciting to see the number of students that desire to play a role in what God is doing among the nations, as goers or senders.
We represent the ministries of SGI and Missions Mandate on several Christian campuses each year. Our goal is to open the students’ eyes to opportunities to mobilize their peers for the cause of missions, to develop relationships with students so that we can connect them to other likeminded students and organizations across the country, and to spread the word about SGI and MM.
